I am wondering if any of my fellow programmers have set up a database to use RFID card reader over Ethernet in Studio 5000 to use for security access to certain screens on a hmi, if so how did you set up your database?
I haven’t had an RFID project for access, but I did work with a meat producer to track their batches using RFID and specified the hardware required. They haven’t finalized the details of the project after the specification, but I believe that the entire database for that application would lie on the PLC. From there, they could add new tags, review which tags were scanned at which station, etc. You can develop all of it directly in RSLogix 5000.
