TIA Getting Started

Hi
AS I just started with Solis I would be happy if someone could answer this question.
To connect a plc with a computer for download or upload a program there is possible to simulate that?,because I have not a physical plc to connect to my laptop.
If possible, how?
Thank you

Hi Stefan,

Siemens allows you to simulate the PLC directly from TIA Portal. In one of the videos I go over that process.

You can simulate a PLC for both RSLogix 500 and RSLogix 5000. It’s free for the RSLogix 500 systems for certain PLCs; you need a license for RSLogix 5000.

Personally, I’d recommend looking on eBay to see if you can find a used PLC for ~200$.

Thank you Vlad
What do you recommend me to buy that can be used for more purposes?

For Rockwell, I always recommend buying a MicroLogix 1100 and using the free version of RSLogix 500. For Siemens, S7-1200 is an excellent PLC.

Thank you Vlad for your answers.
Another think, that I do not understand is:
In TIA getting started course 2, why the push buttons were taged like output?
Thank you

I may have misconfigured it there, but the same tag should work for the buttons.
